Men’s
Motto
“No Man Left Behind”
Mission
To walk alongside and strengthen men through a spirit of love and brotherhood as we wage warfare against our spiritual adversary.
Vision
The cultivate Spiritual growth, Intellectual stimulation, Christian Fellowship, and Transparency (SIFT).
Overview
The Christian journey presents challenges for all men. These challenges require that we endure hardship, while growing deeper in our faith, patience, understanding, and love for the kingdom of God. To be successful, we must be aware of our spiritual adversary and the importance to remain steadfast during difficult times.
S – Spiritual Growth
As men of faith, we must acknowledge, nurture, and grow our spiritual lives. The Bible makes it clear “be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind” (Romans 12:2). It is this renewing of our minds that allows us to consider things that are spiritual versus things that are carnal.
It is imperative that we can discuss our lives from a spiritual view and hold each other accountable when our thoughts and actions are contrary to the word of God.
I – Intellectual Stimulation
Part of being made in God’s image is our capacity to think and exercise free will. While church tends to focus on the spiritual aspects of Christian life, we must not ignore the earthly and tangible aspects of our lives as well.
To be productive members of our homes, church, and society at large, we need to develop our lives in several aspects. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Social Justice
- Politics
- Career/Finances
F – Fellowship
The men’s ministry will endeavor to create an atmosphere that promotes a desire for fellowship. We will have time to come together for knowledge, prayer, worship, outreach, fun, and dining.
This not only includes planned events, but also small groups and discipleship partners for accountability and growth.
T – Transparency
This is the final and foundational aspect of our ministry. Transparency is essential for true spiritual and intellectual growth to take place while the men are in fellowship. Without transparency, people do not feel free to be vulnerable and open about their struggles, hurts, needs, and testimonies.
Foundational Scriptures
#1 Attack of our adversary
LUKE 22:31-32
And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat: But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren.
This is a very interesting passage of Scripture as we have Jesus telling Peter that the devil wants to “sift you as wheat.” We believe that the reason so many of our Christian men become wounded is due to the tactics the enemy uses to keep us weak.
We also rob the body of Christ of potential help, because many Christian men are struggling or have struggled with the same issues. Creating a safe and supportive environment where men can be honest with themselves and each other not only thwarts the efforts of the enemy, but allows the body of Christ to become stronger as we bear one another’s burdens.
#2 Endure to the end
To understand the NEED for our ministry, we look at the Timothy passage:
2 TIMOTHY 2:3
Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.
As Christians, we all can acknowledge that there are many types of battles we face. Sometimes the realities of those battles get lost during the routine of our normal lives. And if these battles exist then there are also those that are wounded. In real battles we must be on the lookout for our wounded comrades and avail ourselves to help them get to safety.
