Ignite Student Ministry

IGNITE Student Ministry is a place for 6th-12th grade students to come to know and follow Christ as we join Him in mission to the world.

IGNITE is based on Ephesians 5:8, “For at one time you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord.  Walk as children of light.”  IGNITE is established on the foundation of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, thereby challenging 6th through 12th graders to seek a deeper, more intimate relationship with God.  IGNITE is a discipleship-focused ministry that equips, empowers, and encourages students to go make disciples for Jesus Christ.

Our Vision

The vision of IGNITE Student Ministry is to experience, explain, and expand God’s Diverse Kingdom by creating opportunities to seek Christ more intimately, stand apart from the culture we live in, grow into leadership, build healthy relationships, and serve our community.

Our Mission

The mission of IGNITE Student Ministry is to develop spiritually mature students; who are established in their faith, equipped for discipleship, and empowered to lead.

Each point of this mission breaks down as follows:

  • To develop spiritually mature students:  In order to develop spiritually mature students, we must surround students with spiritually mature adults who will teach truth as revealed in scripture.
  • Who are established in their faith:  Through our comprehensive Christian education program, large group teaching, and discipleship groups, students will obtain biblical literacy.  Our prayer is that every student will be able to articulate what they believe and why they believe what they believe.
  • Equipped for discipleship:  God’s word is clear that we are to make disciples (Matthew 28:19).  In order for us to equip students for discipleship we must model discipleship through our discipleship (D-Group) leaders.  Our D-Group leaders will be a consistent presence in the life of students, building relationships with students, teaching and walking with students so that they may grow in Christ.  D-Group leaders will empower students to disciple their younger peers.  The idea is that high school students will make disciples of middle school students, who will make disciples of children, creating a snowball effect of discipleship.
  • Empowered to lead:  Through the leadership of adults, students will grow in leadership and recognize that each and every one of us can be a leader that can influence those around us, including our culture, to make an eternal impact for God’s kingdom.

IGNITE Student Ministry Structure

SUNDAYS – Discipleship Hour 9AM – 10AM

Consisting of 6th-12th graders, topics will be devised into two specific formats throughout the year: One semester will consist of topical teaching and one will consist of theology teaching. All 6th-12th grade students will grow in their Christian walk and be equipped with a biblical worldview as we discover the beauty of God’s word together.

Wednesdays – 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm at the White House

The continuing goal of STBC Student Ministry is to make sure the student population of Strong Tower Bible Church is being spiritually fed during the week. Strong Tower Bible Church Youth is a ministry for 6th-12th grade students that helps them come to know and follow Christ as we join Him in mission in the world. This involves three main elements during our Wednesday evening programing (6:30pm- 8:00p.m.): fostering community, large group teaching, and small group response. As a result, all 6th-12th grade students are invited to enjoy biblical teaching that engages students right where they are, and breakout time in Discipleship Groups (D-Groups) for honest and practical discussion.

Student Ministry Discipleship Groups (D-Groups)

Strong Tower Bible Church student ministry small groups are called Discipleship Groups — we like to call them D-Groups for short.  Within our D-Groups, students are able to connect deeper with a handful of other students of the same grade and gender.  These groups are led by adult members of Strong Tower who are trained to cultivate environments that are inclusive, where all types of students will be known and loved.  IGNITE Student Ministry adult leaders will fulfill Jesus’ command to make disciples, while at the same time modeling discipleship as students are sent out to do the same.  Our goal is for our D-Groups to be marked by diversity and yet united under the gospel of Jesus Christ.
